Myprotein Staff Attempt Olympic Sprinter’s Workout
The fourth and final episode saw the team take on GB sprinter, Imani-Lara Lansiquot’s sprint drill workout, something a bit different for the team. Bearing in mind their last attempt at a cardio workout (boxing) we’re sure they’re going to be knackered.
Imani’s 100m record is 11.09 seconds and the team had to try and beat it... Alright, maybe not.
As always, the team weren’t alone. Max, sprint specialist, was on hand to guide the team through the workout.
But before they got into it, a quick message from Imani:
Olympic Sprinter Workout
Bunny hops
Classic reactivity drill according to Max, although the team were more entertained by this workout than anything else.
Having said that, some were definitely more natural than others. And they were all as out of breath as each other after the first exercise – not a good sign of things to come.
Skips for height
Imani’s favourite. The exercise where you use your standing leg to take off as high as you can.
Despite having had the workout explained to them, it's clear some members of the team ignored the instruction of height over distance and strived to get the workout done as quickly as possible. We don’t blame them.
Crawl to sprint
Apparently, a lot harder than it looks, or sounds. Some snippets from the team:
Press up into sprints
Turns out press ups on your knees don’t make it particularly easy to get up and start sprinting.
And why does sprinting involve so much screaming? We’ll never know, but it makes for entertaining watching.
Cone drill
Used to build multidimensional skills as well as reactivity.
“I’m a peachy, get me out of here”. It might be worth mentioning here that Rosie’s surname is Peachy and she certainly was not enjoying herself.
Weighted Sled Push
“I’ll go first and then it’s done”. Classic Rosie.
“I love it” - something we didn’t imagine any of the team to say during a cardio-based workout. They're full of surprises.
While the sprinting was all good, some people in particular need to work on their lefts and rights.
Take Home Message
Max had nothing but positive words to say about the staff after this Olympic sprinter workout. They smashed it and had fun with it, but Imani doesn’t have too much to worry about. The perfect way to close the series with a bang. Well done to Matty, Ross, Rosie and Inbar. Rather you than me...
